abstract="There are many well known causes to acute inflammation of the appendix. During the past 50 years it has been discussed if blunt abdominal trauma can be related to acute appendicitis. There are several anatomical and pathophysiological speculations of why the appendix is vulnerable to inflammation following injury. In this case a patient developed appendicitis few hours after a car accident and was diagnosed by a trauma computed tomography of the abdomen.
