abstract="Situation assessment is a critical component of pilot decision-making assistant and UAV autonomous decisionmaking. The shorcomings of traditional situation assessment model for modern within-visual-range(WVR) air combat was pointed out. A new situation assessment model based on different weapon engagement zones(WEZs) of guns and air-to-air missiles was developed. The new model are made by a set of piecewise functions based on orientation, range, velocity, and height. The advantages of the new situation assessment model was demonstrated.<p />",
