abstract="The article sums up the proceedings of the sixth annual ignition interlock symposium which was held in September 2005 in Annecy/France. In addition to new findings from research on first and multiple offenders and evaluation of longlasting studies on secondary prevention, programs currently in progress and in preparation are described. Furthermore the use of interlocks for primary prevention is discussed. Further issues concerning emerging technologies and technical standards are presented.<p />",
