abstract="We conducted drinking experiments with 20 individuals. Each of them received 0.8 g ethanol/kg bodyweight. This was combined with 1 g fructose/kg bodyweight in the second test. During the third test they were given ethanol with 30 mg ascorbic acid (both these substances are contained in the drink 'Party-Plus'). Every 20 mins. during the following 120 mins., and then every 30 mins. for the next 300 mins. breath alcohol concentration was determined with the 'Evidential' 7110 Mk II from Drager at the same time as blood samples were taken. In our experiments blood alcohol curves as well as breath alcohol curves indicated an increased reduction of ethanol when giving fructose. In about 40 per cent of the cases the breath alcohol values during the post resorptive phase were higher than the corresponding blood alcohol values. In three cases it was higher by as much as 0,5 per mille. These superelevations were not specific for substances. During the elimination phase the breath alcohol curve takes an exponential course as opposed to the blood alcohol curve which takes a linear course.<p />",
