abstract="In order to find out whether corpses in water lose alcohol through the skin to a measurable extent, we carried out 144 experiments with skin sections of 60 corpses. A diffusion of alcohol through the uninjured skin was not demonstrable. In the extracorporeal milieu alcohol was only found when the epidermis was injured or the subcutis was resected and here not before putrefaction.<p />",
