abstract="Animal and human studies were carried out to establish whether simultaneous intake of Ornidazol and ethanol leads to increased acetaldehyde concentrations in the blood. After administration of 1.50 mg/kg body mass of ornidazol together with intravenous injection of 2.5 mg/kg body mass of ethanol in the animal study (rabbits, n=10), no acetaldehyde could be detected gaschromatographically (detection limit 2x10-3(per mille)). The human studies were done on two consecutive days with 15 male subjects divided into groups: a) with ethanol (ca. 1.1 g/kg body mass) and placebos and b) with ethanol (ca. 1.1 g/kg body mass) and 1.5 g Ornidazol. The concentrations of acetaldehyde in the human whole blood, determined gaschromatographically, did not exhibit any statistically significant differences when ethanol was administered together with Ornidazol or without it. In agreement with previous studies, no significant differences (physical or psychic) were observed between the two test groups.<p />",
