abstract="Alcohol-induced changes in psychomotor performance, attention, CFF, mood and motivation have been investigated in a two-period repeated measurement cross-over design. Fourteen policemen drank 0,39 g alcohol/kg bodyweight (Vodka) and performed under a mean blood alcohol concentration of 0,42(per mille) different tests which have been shown to be relevant to driving behaviour. A high correlation could be demonstrated between the mean-BAC measured by breath analysis and by gaschromatographic analysis of venous blood. The analysis of variance revealed alcohol-induced impairment only by its interactions with training effects, whereas the main alcohol-effects did not reach statistical significance. The influence of motivation, situation variables, and reactive increase in test performance are discussed which possibly compensate the alcohol effect. On the basis of the known relationship between blood alcohol concentration and driving performance the results are interpreted as a support for the new tolerance limit of 0,5(per mille).   <p>DWI</p>",
