abstract="During a drinking experiment five persons made an unnoticed drinking bet. Within 45 minutes they drank 460, 600, 630, 700 and 700 ml brandy respectively. The resulting blood-alcohol concentrations were 161, 175, 187, 248 and 272 mg/100 ml one hour after drinking ended. All five persons showed marked rising tide symptomatology and were comatose one hour after drinking ended.<p />",
