abstract="The author describes in detail the technical development to date of breath alcohol analytical apparatuses their reliability, the use of the results in legal proceedings, utilisation of the breath alcohol test by the police, the private use of a test apparatus and other possible uses. The author concludes that the results of breath alcohol analyses in legal proceedings and in determining fines in general are inadequate to determine a legally acceptable blood alcohol level.<p />",
