abstract="Since the early works of H. J. Wagner and M. Moller in Homburg/Saar, Germany an enormous amount of research work has been carried out on the drugs and driving issues in many European countries. Also a very small country like Luxembourg has a lot of problems in this field. Since January 1st 1995 up to October 1st, 1999 some 268 cases have been investigated for the Prosecutor by our laboratory. All these cases were related to severe car accidents. To compare the prevalences, during the same time period some 3507 EtOH-cases have been treated. The drug categorization findings of the toxicological investigation and the concentrations in blood will be reported. In 20,15% of the cases that means 54 out of 268 cases, methadone was found positive, mostly together with ethanol and other drugs. It is not known if this methadone has its origin from the street market or from the official methadone treatment programmes.<p />",
