abstract="Research on substance use among Hispanic youth is lacking. The purpose of this study was to examine over-the-counter (OTC) drug use among Hispanic youth. Of Hispanic youth, 23.9% used an OTC drug for the purpose of getting high. Involvement in prosocial behaviors was correlated with decreased OTC use for females and high school students. Involvement in risky behaviors increased the risk of use for males, females, junior high school students, and high school students. Significant differences were found based on parent, peer, teacher, and school factors. Prevention and intervention programs should address OTC use among Hispanic youth.<p /> <p>Language: en</p>",
