In the growing public health and legislative debate on safety from gun violence for domestic violence victims there are two sides: Those who promote disarming abusers to reduce the risk of homicide, and those who promote arming victims to protect themselves from their abusers. Both sides have experienced recent state-level legislative success. However, legislation passed to facilitate the arming of domestic violence victims ignores the dangerous realities of abusive relationships.
