abstract="As serious attempts are made to alleviate the problem of congestion in the central business districts, it becomes apparent that knowledge of pedestrian travel behavior is very important. This paper describes a pedestrian travel survey for the central business district of Chicago and analyzes the results. The factors that affect trip-length distributions and time of travel are described; comparisons are made with other urban centers.<p />",
