abstract="Cooperation between the Suicide Prevention Project of the Community Mental Health Centres (SP-MHC), the Interuniversity Centre for GP Training (ICHO), and the Scientific Association of Flemish GPs resulted in the establishment of an internet-based interactive suicide prevention training programme, with the support of the Flemish Ministry of Well-being and Health. The programme is open for GPs in training, practicing GPs and psychiatrists. 35 individual participants simultaneously complete three modules in a period of four weeks. Every training module includes a series of objectives, an assignment and a test. A reader and guidelines are offered, as well as educational videos, case examples, a discussion forum, homework and exercises. SP-MHC staff members and ICHO staff guide the learning process. A total of 400 doctors completed the training. Follow-up is provided via an electronic newsletter. The training is part of an electronic helpdesk, i.e. a comprehensive resource for GPs that is currently developed and tested.<p /> <p>Language: en</p>",
