abstract="A rope is one of the most commonly used objects to restrain animals. Previously one case of accidental strangulation due to entanglement while tying up a cow has been described.1 We report an uncommon non-fatal case of accidental strangulation in a child due to partial entwining of a buffalo head collar rope around his neck. A 12-year-old male child presented with a history of accidental strangulation while he was taking a buffalo for grazing in the morning. He was holding the rope which was tied around the neck of the buffalo; suddenly the child stumbled and the rope entangled around his neck. He was holding the rope and was dragged for approximately 20 feet. Fortunately, he was able to overturn and the rope was untied after the initial injury. The child was immediately rescued by the bystanders and the rope was released from his hands. .... The child was managed conservatively and recovered completely.<p />",
