abstract="Young drivers represent a risk group for both countries in traffic. However, in Germany older drivers are not as much a a risk group as in Switzerland. But even in Germany there is an age-related increase in the accident rate with respect to frailty. Contrary to expectations and considering the annual mileage, the country-specific comparisons of accident datasets of 2010 show an increase in accident rates of older Swiss drivers for various accident classes (individual motor car traffic, as car driver and also as accident perpetrator), even though there is little evidence for the efficacy of mandatory policies since in Germany no driving-licensing policies for this age group exist. As German car drivers drive more in all age groups compared to Swiss drivers, possible age-related declines could be better compensated by the acquired driving experience in late adulthood. On the other hand, a different sense of responsibility could also have an impact on the different curves of accident rates. (Author)<p /> <p>Language: de</p>",
