abstract="This study is a phenomenological approach toward trauma that can be detected from the 7 North Korean women defectors in their resettlement process in the South Korea. In the process, it analyzes the North Korean women defectors' trauma in its relation to their adjustment to South Korean society and discusses the settlement policies of Korean government. The study is categorized under four theme clusters, 'a passage through life and death tunnel', 'Life of Homo Sacre in China', 'Shadow of trauma persisting in South Korea', 'North Korean women defector's desire.' Participants in the interviews shared the common experiences of trafficking and sexual harrassment. Adjustment in South Korea is deeply related with the severity of their trauma. This study contends that different settlement programs should be developed and applied for the women defectors discussed.<p />",
