abstract="Cross-border crime and deviance in Asia and the Pacific is dealt with in this essay and review. The focus is on seven crime types that occur characteristically within and outside of national or territorial borders in the region. These offenses are social disorganization crime, opportunity crime, corporate crime, bureaucratic crime, drug smuggling, human trafficking, and organized crime. To provide a systematic understanding of these phenomena, attention is directed to changing dynamics between major social forces, including capitalism and socialism, Eastern civilizations and Western development, democratic forms of government and patriarchal leadership, citizen initiatives and control authorities, formalism and informalism, and procedural fairness and control effectiveness.
