abstract="This article focuses on sex slavery in Thailand, with a strong emphasis on human rights and connection to social development. Distinctions between prostitution, human traffi cking, and sex slavery are presented. Factors promoting sex slavery (i.e., religion, families, sex tourism/prostitution) are examined, and the ways in which sex slavery affects human rights and individual health are explored.
