abstract="The previous theory of vertical uplift capacity of foundations has been extended to foundations under oblique loads. The analysis is compared with the results of model and some field tests on rigid anchors and piles in sand and clay. The influence of load inclination on the uplift resistance can be represented by an interaction relationship between the vertical and horizontal components of the ultimate load.
