abstract="This paper reviews the small but growing body of research on relationships among language disorders and behavioral/emotional disorders, focusing on three populations of children: (a) children identified as having language impairments; (b) children with emotional/behavioral disorders (e.g., aggression, conduct disorders, and attention deficit disorders); and (c) children who are withdrawn. Despite considerable variation in definitions of emotional/behavioral disorders and measures of language skills in these research studies, a startling majority of these children was found to have co-occurring language and emotional/behavioral disorders. Implications for intervention are discussed, especially for the assessment of language in social contexts and the importance of intervention models that integrate language and social/emotional goals.<p /><p>Language: en</p>",
