abstract="In this study, adult-mediated attention was evaluated as an intervention for withdrawn and, at times, aggressive preschool children who had been physically-abused and neglected.Using a withdrawal of treatment design, one physically-abused boy was the target for social attention delivered contingent upon positive social behavior. The intervention immediately increased his level of positive social behavior and decreased the level of negative interactions. "Spillover" of treatment effects were noted also for the 10 classroom peers who engaged in increased levels of positive behavior with the target child during intervention conditions.

Language: en
",
