abstract="A comparison between the scores of 138 automobile accident-repeaters and 52 volunteer drivers in a battery of tests shows that the former are consistently poorer "in brake reaction time (by hand co-ordination), vigilance steering, braking-steering balance and miniature-highway safe passes." Young and old drivers can be re-educated. Attitudinal factors such as over-confidence and carelessness characterize the mistakes of young drivers who have accidents. Specific education in test clinics is more effective than generalized safety education: the former type of education reduced by over 50% the accidents occurring after generalized education.
