abstract="A growing body of evidence suggests that child exposure to intimate partner violence has far-reaching negative repercussions. One way in which to consider the full societal impact of this problem is to frame it with respect to its potential economic effect. Research in this area is currently extremely limited. The present study reviews existing estimates of the costs of the related issue of child maltreatment, discusses challenges with making cost estimates for violence exposure, and proposes a framework for developing a reliable cost model that includes direct, indirect, and opportunity costs. The harms resulting from child exposure to intimate partner violence are considerable, and should be quantified to provide a realistic assessment of the as-yet unknown economic ramifications.<p /> <p>Language: en</p>",
