abstract="OBJECTIVE The object of the study was to understand the epidemic feature of exposure to violence among stu-dents in a medical college in Zhuzhou city,as to provide evidence for violence prevention and intervention. <br><br>METHODS An anonymous questionnaire with stratified and cluster random sampling was conducted in a medical college in Zhuzhou to investigate the exposure to violence among college students a year ahead. Epidemiological analysis of the results was conducted. <br><br>RESULTS A total of 1 780 questionnaires were issued with 1 620 questionnaires returned. The response rate was 91.01%. 249 students were exposed to the violence last year(15.37%). 10.68%(173/1 620) students suffered spirit violence. 7.96%(129/1 620) students suffered physical violence. 2.65%(43/1 620) students suffered sexual violence. Violent-suffered-place was mainly on campus from peer students. The main cause of violence was irritation. The damage was mainly psychological harm. Majority of the students expressed the violence to classmates. 39.80%(99/249) student victims imposed violence on others. <br><br>CONCLUSIONS The violence encountered rate among students in a medical college in Zhuzhou was high enough to take necessary prevention and intervention. <p /> <p>Language: zh</p>",
