abstract="Objective This study aimed to identify the prevalence rate of incest in Cameroon. Patients and method To achieve this objective, the author conducted a pooled analysis which synthesized studies on sexual violence against children. Results Nine published studies were included as well for a total of 10,874 participants. Among them, 1164 were victims of sexual violence (giving a prevalence rate of 10.7%). In this sample, the author found 1056 girls (90.7%) against 108 boys (9.3%), with a sex ratio of 9.8 for girls. Among the victims, there were 917 cases of extrafamilial sexual violence and 194 cases of intrafamilial sexual violence, which is equivalent to a prevalence rate of 16.66% of incest. Out of the 194 cases of intrafamilial sexual violence, 178 involved girls (91.7%) and 16 involved boys (8.3%) with a sex ratio of 11.1 for girls. Conclusion The prevalence of incest in Cameroon is high. Therefore, a national action is essential to tackle this issue. This will include research activities, training and information activities, care and prevention interventions.<p /> <p>Language: fr</p>",
