abstract="Chest wall injuries are common in paddle-based sports such as kayaking. We present the case of a 46-year-old amateur kayaker who presented with signs and symptoms in keeping with a rib stress response or fracture. The patient failed to respond to conservative management and subsequent imaging revealed an obstructed left kidney with associated hydronephrosis. This case report highlights the importance of considering the wider differential diagnoses when managing athletes participating in paddle-based sports, especially when symptoms fail to settle with appropriate conservative management.<p /> <p>Language: en</p>",
