abstract="This paper presents a critical overview of the state of evaluation research with regard to intervention programs for children who witness family violence. The range and types of programs include universal preventive interventions as well as targeted interventions designed to prevent problems for at-risk children who have observed and experienced violence in their families. While few programs have been assessed to date, a summary of what appear to be the best ways to intervene in the prevention of and aftermath of family violence with children is offered, followed by ten suggestions for improving research in this area.<p />",
