abstract="Without an understanding of the psychopathological development of the offenders, it is impossible to understand rampage killings. In the absence of their developing personality disorder, young offenders wouldn't react to their surroundings the way they do. Young rampage killers up to the age of 23 years constitute a specific phenomenon-defined group, and differ from other offenders committing homicide in terms of personality and execution of their crime. Such incidents are very rare. In most cases, the specific risk factors enable early recognition and intervention, because the would-be offenders give indications of their plans before committing the act. Adult rampage killers also exhibit highly abnormal psychopathology. However, in contrast to young offenders, one third of adult rampage killers are schizophrenic. Moreover, the (paranoid) personality disorders, in part with narcissistic aspects, are more pronounced in adults. <p /> <p>Language: de</p>",
