abstract="In Chile, the treatment of depression in public health promotes the performance of Group Psychosocial Interventions (IPG) for all cases diagnosed, however, there is a low implementation of these benefits. This article describes and characterizes, from the point of view of the psychological discipline, the meaning of psychologists working in primary health care (PHC) clinics about IPG in the treatment of depression. Eight psychologists from the different Health Services of the Metropolitan Region of Santiago were interviewed. This study was based on the premises of the Grounded Theory, using its analysis strategies. The category "groups do not work for us" exposes the main barriers that prevent the realization of these interventions. The workload centered on individual attention, the limited budget allocated to its implementation, and the lack of adequate facilities to carry out IPGs emerge as institutional barriers. Likewise, the "little faith" in the effectiveness of group work, the figure of psychologists as the only trained professionals to work with emotions, the idea that low adherence to treatment does not depend of its labor exercise, and the fact that the implementation of the IPG depends on the individual interest of some professionals, emerge as the main professional resistances to its realization. The scope of these barriers are discussed, and solutions are proposed that favor the necessary cultural change so that health professionals and institutions can fully align with the community health model proposed by the National Mental Health and Psychiatry Plan (PNSMP).
Language: es
",
