abstract="This paper looks at the change in speed around nine schools in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania after the introduction of low-cost road safety interventions. It compares the speeds 'before', 'two weeks after' and 'one year after' intervention. The purpose of the study was to determine the levels of change in speed at the identified sites over time and establish what level speeds were at, one year post-intervention. Speeds were also analysed by vehicle category. The study identified the need for further work looking specifically at ways to reduce speeds of motorcycles on an unpaved road setting, and the need for more sustainable speed management methods on this road type in general.
