abstract="In a 3-year follow-up study of pubertal children, about 20% of the population were found to have some suicidal ideation. The difference between the sexes was found to be non-significant. In contrast, an association between suicidal ideation and depressive symptomatology appeared only in girls. Moreover, 21.9% of the children having shown some suicidal ideation in the first year, persisted with this ideation in the following 2 years. We suggest the possibility of early detection of suicide risk in schools.<p />",
