abstract="PURPOSE: This study examined associations between caffeinated energy drink consumption patterns and (1) participant characteristics and health-risk behaviors and (2) suicidal ideation and attempts in Korean adolescents. <br><br>METHODS: Participants included 8961 adolescents who consumed the drinks more than once weekly. Data were analyzed via logistic regression. <br><br>RESULTS: Rates of suicidal ideation and attempts in participants who consumed the drinks more than once daily were higher relative to those for participants who consumed the drinks 3-6 and 1-2 times weekly. <br><br>CONCLUSIONS: Further research is required to establish causality in these relationships.<br><br>Copyright © 2017 Elsevier Inc.
