abstract="Hitherto, using scale-model cars, we have determined car behaviour in barrier impacts, head-on impacts and right-angle side impacts with a stationary car and with a moving car. In this paper, head injury criteria, lap and shoulder belt loads, and the hip displacement of a subcompact car's belted occupant are examined when the car collides head-on with a compact car moving at the same speed in mixed traffic. Simplified scale-model belts and occupants in scale-model cars made by conventional methods were used.<p />",
