abstract="The study explored the determinants of disaster news coverage from the combined perspective of news values and resource allocation. The empirical analysis focuses on coal mine disasters in China, using hierarchical linear regression, sampling on 222 mine disasters. It shows that characteristics of mine disasters relevant to news values of severity and prominence and factors regarding media resource allocation can explain how much coverage a mine disaster receives, and the influences of news values factors can be interactive. The implications and suggestions for future studies are discussed.<p /> <p>Language: en</p>",
