abstract="<p>A patient who blamed his family GP for his father’s death from lung cancer has been convicted of attempted murder after shooting the doctor with a crossbow.  Mark Waterfall burst into GP Gary Griffith’s consulting room at the Suthergrey House Medical Centre in Watford last July and shot him in the stomach. Griffith told the jury at St Alban’s Crown Court that Waterfall had announced, “You killed my father and I am going to kill you.”  It was a hot day and Griffith’s shirt was in folds around his midriff, causing the crossbow bolt to lose momentum and protecting him from more serious injury.
