abstract="Thermoplastic raised-rib road-markings have been used on motorways in the UK since 1984. The marking provides improved visibility of the line in dark and wet conditions and gives an audible and vibration warning when vehicle passes over it. However, uncertainty about the safety implications of the road-marking, particular in relation to vulnerable road-users where the marking were installed on all-purpose roads, required a cautious approach to their authorization. In view of this, the safety implications of raised-rib road markings with respect to cyclist, motorcyclist and pedestrian were investigated. This paper describes the research and presents the results. <p>Language: en</p>",
