abstract="Studies were made of the relationships between rural road accident rates (personal injury accidents per million vehicle kilometers traveled) and geometric design features of the road. The resulting equations were compared with similar relationships derived in Western Europe, Australasia and North America. The pattern of road accident rates in selected urban areas was examined, areas of high risk identified, and relationships established between accident rates and levels of vehicle and pedestrian flow.<p />",
