abstract="Accidental ingestion of foreign bodies is common among infants and children. Mostly the ingested bodies are coins and toys, which often pass spontaneously. Ingestion of magnetic objects is still quite rare and can be a serious matter. If multiple magnetic parts or a combination of magnets and ferrous metallic objects are ingested, they may attract each other and can cause serious life-threatening complications including bowel necrosis, perforation, obstruction, volvulus and abscess formation. We present three cases of multiple magnets ingestion with varied presentations and complications. We reviewed the medical literature and deduce a clinical algorithm for ingested magnetic objects. We conclude that the ingestion of t wo or more magnetic objects or the combination of magnets and ferrous metallic objects requires urgent intervention.
