abstract="The work presented in this paper shows that significant changes in vertical pelvic displacement are affected by different lap belt configurations. Vertical pelvic displacement can be significantly reduced by changing the lap belt configuration. In general, minimum vertical excursion occured with a tight nominal 90-degree belt. Longitudinal excursion was also affected by belt angle and slack/ tension. The overall occupant protection components of a vehicle should be considered as a system. Changes which reduce the probability of one type of injury could affect the overall probability of another injury. With a more effective rollover protection system, an incremental improvement in motor vehicle safety seems probable.   <p>Language: en</p>",
