abstract="Knee fracture mechanisms in a frontal knee impact are studied experimentally using cadaver knee and analytically by computer simulation. It is shown that during rigid surface impact, a patella fracture and a split condylar fracture are observed. The split condylar fracture is generated by the patella pushing the condyles apart.
