abstract="The findings of a study of pedestrian flow characteristics in Hong Kong are described. The objective was to collect walking distance, speed, flow, and density data on indoor and outdoor walkways, signalized crosswalks, light rail transit crosswalks, and stairways. The data collected were used to develop speed-flow-density relationships for each type of pedestrian link. In addition, pedestrian characteristics from various international cities are compared.
