abstract="Past truck research is studied to determine the applicability of AASHTO geometric design policies to exclusive truck facilities. The policies addressed include those with respect to vehicle characteristics, sight distance, horizontal alignment, vertical alignment, and cross-section elements. Each existing AASHTO design policy is described, the applicability to exclusive truck facilities is discussed, and alternative design criteria are recommended where past research warrants possible change.
