abstract="The article analyses the reasons that have led the Conselleria de Infraestructuras y Transporte to formulate a new strategy for Road Safety. After that, it describes the principal action lines that are included in the Generalitat Valenciana's First Global Plan for Road Safety. This document establishes the goals and directives for road safety in the short, medium and long-term. The Plan will be developed through biannual programs that will compile all the actions to be taken during each period. At present time, the 2005-2006 Program on Road Safety is under execution; some of its works are also described in this article.<p />",
