abstract="Compared to most other structural works safety of a railway tunnel is not determined by preventative fire safety regulations for housings but by a concept considering the safe properties of the railway system. In consequence of the specifics and the high preventative safety of the rail traffic the requirements for safety concepts are fundamentally different to those of other traffic systems. The safety measures for railway tunnels and the differences to the fire safety regulations for housings are specified.<p />",
