abstract="In order to avoid serious accidents in the transportation of hazardous materials, the condition against a serious accident was analyzed, i. e., avoiding passing the route with a serious consequence as possible. A model for route selection was set up by taking population risk, average consequence and total consequence as the objectives to avoid serious transportation accidents, and by using the weighted method, the model can be solved by the shortest path algorithm. With this model, serious accidents in the transportation of hazardous materials can be avoided by controlling the average consequence and the total consequence. At last, a calculational example was given to show the validity of this model.<p />",
