abstract="Volvo has developed a City Safety system to help drivers avoid 50% of rear-end, low-speed accidents, which happen in urban environments and slow moving traffic. The system builds on its collision warning and brake support active safety systems in the new Volve S80, which help avoid and reduce damage and injuries from collisions. These systems alert the driver by audible and visual signals if the gap to the car in front is reducing so quickly that an impact is likely to happen. They automatically pre-charge the braking system so braking is as effective as possible in an emergency situation, but it does not offer full auto-braking. The new City Safety system is active up to 30 km/h and keeps a watchful eye on traffic up to 6m in front of the car with an optical radar integrated into the upper windscreen. The system will automatically pre-charge the brakes, if the car in front suddenly brakes or is stationary, to help the driver slow down in time or steer away from a potential collision.   <p>Language: en</p>",
