abstract="With the requirement of reducing automobile weight for energy saving, the application of high strength steel sheets on automobile has been popularized increasingly, due to not only achieving weight reduction of automobile, but also improving the passive safety of automobile. Achievements of lightweight automobile projects abroad in recent years are summarized, especially about development of high strength steel sheets. Considering the parts and components of automobile, the properties and applications of high strength steel sheets produced by Baosteel are emphatically introduced and research works to be conducted for automobile weight lightening in the future are discussed.<p />",
