abstract="Farm machinery incidents are responsible for a large part of the farm-related injuries, which can be a tremendous challenge to emergency responders for several reasons. The injuries can result from the equipment's age, lack of maintenance or missing safety equipment, the operator's inadequate training, failure to read the operator's manual, ignoring safety warnings, or failure to follow safety rules. Farm equipments such as power take-off (PTO), are heavier and have a different center of gravity and the metal used in their construction are generally stronger than in rescue tools, which if not handled properly may result in life threatening injuries and even death. Hazards must be removed to avoid its sudden release to protect the rescuers and the victims, and tractors must also be shut down to avoid accidents. ALS care including IV therapy and advanced airway procedures can also be given to the victim, while being extricated to save the victim from hazardous effects.   <p>Language: en</p>",
