abstract="A railway carriage was taken as study object. First, the ventilation condition of the interior carriage was analyzed. Then, an equation of energy conservation was developed in the dimensionless form. At last, differentiable homomorphism was applied to simplify it. The potential function of swallowtail catastrophe and the bifurcation in v-w coordinate plane were gained. Based on the actual data, a judgment can be made according to the value of the system parameters. The flashover temperature of the smoke-layer can be calculated by the value of the critical point, which gives expression to swallowtail catastrophe mechanism.<p />",
